Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech to Boumalne Dades
Begin your journey with an early morning departure from Marrakech at 7:30 AM, traveling through the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi N'Tichka Pass. Enjoy panoramic views and traditional Berber villages along the way before arriving at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its impressive earthen architecture and cinematic history, having appeared in Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore the historic site with a local Berber guide, followed by an optional lunch. Continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the 'Hollywood of Africa,' before traveling through the palm groves of Skoura and the beautiful Valley of the Roses. The day concludes at your hotel near the spectacular Dades Canyons in Boumalne Dades.
Day 2: Boumalne Dades - Tinghir - Merzouga
After breakfast, depart for the oasis town of Tinghir to explore its lush palm groves and the breathtaking Todra Gorges, famous for their dramatic limestone cliffs. Continue to Rissani, historically known as the birthplace of Morocco's ruling dynasty, where you will visit the traditional date market. By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, located on the edge of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and overnight stay at a comfortable lodge just steps away from the golden sands.
Day 3: Merzouga: Desert Exploration & Sunset Camel Trek
After breakfast, visit the village of Khamlia to meet local nomadic families and enjoy their warm hospitality along with traditional Gnawa music. In the afternoon, embark on a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness a spectacular sunset over the Sahara.
